B. R.Dean Taylor – There’s A Ghost In My House
£13.99
GLORIA JONES to the wider public is perhaps best known as the wife of pop royalty Marc Bolan, “Tainted Love” being associated with Soft Cell. In fact, even today, the Soft Cell smash hit is often mistaken as the original version. To the Northern Soul scene it is, of course, Jones’ defining moment and it dominated the playlist of every venue in 1973, most notably Wigan Casino. Such was the demand that it was covered twice by opportunists Pye Disco Demand (the Jezebelles) and Spark (Ruth Swann). 2025 will mark the 60th Anniversary of this anthemic track which belies its enduring appeal. R. DEAN TAYLOR is best known for his worldwide chart-topping hit “Indiana Wants Me” in 1970. Prior to that in 1964 Dean signed to Motown and the following year released “Let’s Go Somewhere” on VIP. Very Important it might have been but it was also a flop, as was the follow up “Ghost In My House”. However, in 1973 it was rediscovered by the Northern Soul scene on a budget Music For Pleasuer album and propelled to legendary status alongside the aforementioned “Tainted Love” at Station Road, Wigan. Welcome to the Class of ’73…
