Yelfris Valdes’ 2019 debut LP For The Ones… saw the Cuban trumpeter explore the spiritual depth of his Yoruba heritage, subtly weaving its rich vocal traditions with electronic textures and live instrumentation to create a pulsating, immersive soundscape. By deliberately transforming the acoustic tone of his trumpet, he adds layers of depth while preserving its emotive power and tenderness. The result is a bold and exploratory evolution in his composition—drawing from his classical foundation and deep love of jazz, while stepping further into the realm of electronica.
