The Spinners became known as the Detroit Spinners in the UK during their 60s and 70s heyday. They recorded with V.I.P/Motown between 1964 and 1971 where the Motown sound had huge impact on the shape of Northern Soul and where songs not commercial hits became classics on dancefloors in the North West of England. “I’ll Always Love You”, the Hunter/Stevenson song, is from 1965 and the UK pressing on Tamla Motown has sold for in excess of £500. “What More Could A Boy Ask For” is a Bristol/Fuqua song recorded in 1966 and never released in any format until becoming a bonus track on the 2012 CD “Yours Truly”, so this release makes it the first official release on 7″
